Your ANTARA OCEAN swimsuit is your best companion for all your water activities. They are lovingly made with high-quality recycled materials to accompany you on your adventures for years to come.
But did you know that the way you wash your clothes can extend their lifespan and further protect our oceans? We're going to give you the best tips to make your clothes last longer, look great, and most importantly, help us keep our seas clean and teeming with life 💙
1. Cold water, please!
Forget hot water for almost everything. Washing with cold water not only protects the colors and fibers of your swimsuit (especially recycled polyester!), but it also saves a ton of energy.
Less energy means a smaller carbon footprint. Your swimsuit will thank you, and so will the planet!
2. Eco-Friendly Detergents
Attention! Many conventional detergents are full of chemicals that end up directly in our rivers and oceans, harming marine life.
Look for biodegradable options, free of phosphates and microplastics. They're just as effective, but much kinder to the ecosystem. A small change, a big impact!
3. Less is more: don't overload the washing machine
Although the temptation to put all your clothes in one load is strong, try not to overload the washing machine. Giving each garment enough space allows for more efficient cleaning and reduces wear and tear on fabrics.
Also, whenever possible, opt for full loads to save water and energy!
4. Goodbye, dryer! Hello, sun and sea (or balcony) breeze!
The heat from the dryer is the worst enemy of the elasticity and lifespan of your swimsuits and clothes:
- It weakens the fibers
- Shrinks garments
- Wastes a lot of energy
The best thing to do is hang them outdoors, in the shade, or in a well-ventilated area. A good natural drying process is free, eco-friendly, and takes care of your clothes!
5. The laundry bag trick
For your swimsuits and delicate garments, a laundry bag is key.
Not only does it protect them from snags and friction with zippers on other clothes, but some are designed to trap microfibers that are released during washing that would end up poluting the seas (especially from polyester).
6. It acts quickly and against stubborn stains
If you get a stain, don't wait. Treat it immediately with a little eco-friendly detergent and cold water. Rub gently. Avoid harsh bleaches, which can damage the fabric and color of your swimsuit, as well as being harmful to the environment.
7. Fewer washes = longer life
Ask yourself: does it really need washing? Often, simply rinsing with fresh water after each day of use and spot-cleaning any small stain is enough.
Every wash wears down garments and consumes resources. Be mindful and stretch out the wash cycles whenever possible! Your clothes will last longer, and the planet will thank you.
Your contribution is a wave of change!
At ANTARA OCEAN, we believe every little bit counts. By following these tips, you're not only taking care of your favorite clothes so they last for years to come, but you're also joining our mission to protect the place we love so much: the ocean. Thank you for being part of the solution and for bringing sustainability to your laundry routine! See you in the water! 🤙
