How we turn waste into fashion

When we conceived ANTARA OCEAN, we had one non-negotiable premise: we couldn't create products to enjoy the sea if their manufacture contributed to its destruction . The ocean is not only our source of inspiration, it's the heart of our planet and the regulator of our climate. That's why we decided that our brand had to be sustainable not just in words, but in tangible, measurable, and traceable actions.

We don't believe in "use and discard." We believe in second chances.

For us, the circular economy is not a buzzword in a corporate report; it is the compass that guides every design decision, from the thread that weaves our swimsuits to the label you cut off when you wear them for the first time.

We want to tell you, with total transparency and without fine print, what you're wearing when you choose ANTARA OCEAN and why each material has a vital purpose.

The heart of our garments: from bottle to swimsuit ♻️

The mainstream fashion industry typically relies on virgin polyester, a material derived directly from petroleum. We have chosen a different, more complex, but infinitely more rewarding path: recycled polyester (rPET) .

How is it possible for a plastic bottle or a fishing net to be transformed into a soft, high-quality fabric? It's a process of modern alchemy.

The raw material

We use post-consumer waste, specifically plastic bottles. That's why, by choosing ANTARA OCEAN, you're contributing to cleaning the ocean.

The transformation

These plastics are cleaned, shredded, and melted to create plastic flakes , which are then stretched to form a strong and versatile polyester fiber.

The result

A fabric that retains all the technical properties of virgin polyester —it is durable, quick-drying, resistant to chlorine and salt and with UV protection— but with a drastically smaller environmental footprint.

By choosing rPET, we're not extracting new oil from the earth. We're giving a second life to materials that would otherwise take centuries to decompose in a landfill or floating in the Pacific. It's closing the circle: what once polluted the sea now allows us to enjoy it .

Details matter: literally sowing life 🌱

Consistency is key. It seemed contradictory to send an eco-friendly swimsuit with a shiny plastic tag that would end up in the trash five seconds after the package was opened. That's why we redesigned every accessory to be " Zero Waste ."

Our labels have a life of their own ; they're not "trash" —they're future plants . They're made from leftover cotton textile scraps from the fashion industry (preventing those scraps from ending up in landfills). And, during the manufacturing process, seeds are added to them.

When you receive your swimsuit, don't throw away the tag. Follow its instructions carefully and you'll see a plant sprout (chamomile, wildflowers, or tomatoes—it's a surprise!).

A "Thank you" that lasts 📖

The thank you cards we include with every order aren't ordinary paper either. They're bookmarks designed to accompany you during your summer reading by the sea.

They are made of eco-friendly paper , handcrafted from natural waste and textile industry scraps. Their texture is unique, imperfect, and natural, reminding us of the beauty of the organic. We want this object to stay with you, not fill your trash can.

The final journey: plastic-free packaging 📦

The final link in our chain is how the product reaches you. It would be illogical to wrap our efforts in single-use plastic bags.

Our shipping envelopes are made from 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard . Cardboard is one of the most environmentally friendly materials when managed properly, as its recycling rate is extremely high. We've designed the packaging to be minimalist and efficient, taking up as little volume as possible to optimize space during transport (which, again, saves CO₂).

When you receive your ANTARA OCEAN box, we encourage you to reuse it.

A collective commitment 🤝

The circular economy isn't perfect; it's a path of constant improvement. At ANTARA OCEAN, we don't claim to have all the answers, but we do have an unwavering commitment to asking the right questions and seeking the best solutions available today.

Every time you choose one of our garments, you're validating this model. You're saying that you care about the origin of what you wear, that you value the cleanliness of our oceans, and that you prefer quality and awareness over quantity and speed.

Thank you for being part of this change . Thank you for helping us clean the sea, bottle by bottle, net by net.

See you in the water! 🐋💙
