Our local production philosophy isn't a marketing slogan or a patriotic flourish; it's a strategic and ethical decision designed to guarantee traceability, social justice, and a minimal environmental footprint .

The journey of an Antara Ocean garment begins long before it's made. It starts with transforming waste into a resource. However, it was vital for us that the production of our fabric, high-quality recycled polyester, didn't involve opaque and polluting processes on the other side of the world.

We have opted for fabrics produced mostly in Spain and, in some specific cases, in other European countries with strict legislation regarding quality and sustainable production processes. This proximity allows us to have greater control over the quality of the material , ensuring excellent feel, durability, and resistance. But above all, it guarantees that European labor and quality standards are met from the very beginning of the supply chain.

Unlike production outsourced to countries with lax regulations, manufacturing the fabric here ensures that everyone involved in the spinning and weaving process operates under strict safety standards and receives a living wage. Knowing that the fabric that touches your skin has been created in a fair working environment is part of the quality experience we want to offer .

It's not just about cleaning the oceans of plastic, but about ensuring that the human chain that makes that cleaning possible is treated with respect.

Once we have the fabric, the magic of garment making comes into play. In the fast fashion industry, it's common for cutting and sewing to be done in impersonal, large-scale factories focused solely on volume and cost reduction at any human cost.

We have a radically different approach.

We work hand in hand with local family businesses . We're talking about workshops with names and stories, where the craft is passed down and respected. Our pattern makers, cutters, and seamstresses are artisans with names and stories, who live in our community, specifically in Barcelona.

Supporting these family-run workshops has a direct impact on the local economy, helping to keep the small-scale textile industry alive.

Another important aspect is the human guarantee: by consciously choosing each workshop, we have the certainty that the working conditions are dignified, the schedules are fair and the remuneration is appropriate to the specialization of the work.

The conventional textile industry often operates under an energy-inefficient logistics system: cotton is harvested in one country, spun in another, dyed in a third, sewn in a fourth, and sold in a fifth. This means that a single garment may have circled the globe before being worn, emitting tons of CO₂ in maritime and air transport.

By centralizing fabric creation, design, cutting, and sewing, we drastically shorten these distances. The proximity between our suppliers and our workshops reduces the need for long-distance transport, resulting in a significant decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.

This "zero kilometer" logic is our way of being consistent.

If our mission is to protect marine biodiversity, which inspires our prints, we must combat climate change, which is one of the main threats to the health of the oceans (causing warming and acidification of the water).
